Life Membership for
George Leslie
To mark his election as a Life Member of the Club
George Leslie and his family were guests of honour
at a function in the Clubhouse on Saturday 27 August
2011.
George joined the Geraldine Golf Club in 1991 and in
the intervening years has proven to be a keen
supporter of the Club. He has held the Committee
positions of Grounds Convenor, Vice-Captain and Club
Captain, Vice-President and President.
He has been a generous donor of meat prizes for Club
Tournaments and an effective raiser of sponsorship
in support of Club activities.
A handy golfer, George has represented the Club in
various Pennant teams including appearances in the
Holmes Cup division.

Life
Membership for Ken Pearce
At a Special General
Meeting held in the Clubhouse on Saturday 12 July,
Ken Pearce was elected to Life Membership of the
Club. Many of Ken’s family were on hand for the
occasion when Club President, George Leslie,
presented Ken with a certificate marking his
achievement.
In proposing Ken for the honour,
Vice-President Max Bensemann outlined Ken’s ongoing
contribution to the Club, in particular his many
hours spent in mowing the fairways and his
membership of the syndicate which has provided a van
for use by Club members.
The motion to elect Ken to Life
Membership was seconded by Club Captain, Dennis
Goodwin.
Speaking in support of the
motion, Brian Fawdray said he thought the honour was
well deserved as he knew that Ken was always
interested in developments which could help with the
growth of Denfield. In particular he recalled many
RSA tournaments they had attended when their
progress around the course would be halted as Ken
wandered off to look at some item of machinery or to
hold discussions with the local greens’ staff.
In accepting the Membership, Ken
said he had had much satisfaction from golf and the
opportunity to contribute to the grooming of the
Denfield course was a pleasure. He hoped he would be
able to keep on helping in the future.
He also paid tribute to his wife,
Jean, who always understood his absences to be on
the golf course.

Life Membership
For Stuart Peterson
At a Special General Meeting on Saturday 24 May
members unanimously elected Stuart Peterson to
Life Membership of the Club.
Proposing Stuart for the honour, Geoff Clarke
outlined his contribution to the Club over many
years, in particular the tremendous work he had
done as convenor of the Grounds Committee.
Stuart’s hands-on, practical approach epitomised
what was great about volunteer effort in clubs
such as Geraldine.
The proposal was seconded by Alistair South.
Speaking after the election, Stuart thanked the
members for honouring him. Referring to a Club
Programme from 20 years ago he noted that all
but one of the life members of that time had
passed on and although many current members
would not remember them they had all made major
contributions to the Club as we know it today.
He could only hope that in 20 years time members
would look at his name on such a list and
appreciate the effort he had made.
Stuart said he had always enjoyed working for
the Club. He had never done anything he had not
wanted to do and if his contribution had been
helpful then he was happy.
