Sisi's Garden Soiree - October 2010

Over fifty women (and two men) enjoyed a lovely day at Sisi's garden. The weather was kind albeit a little cool but this did not stop the pleasure of walking around the daffodils, trilliums and hundreds of other beautiful spring flowers. Lunch was enjoyed by all while listening to Harold Bragg playing the organ. Thanks to Sisi and Kit for providing the venue for this very successful day - over $500 was raised for the purchase of outdoor furniture for the club.

Harold Bragg, Alison Bragg and Gwen Allen,

Enjoying the moment

Local Rule for use of Distance Measuring Devices
For all play at this course, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.

New Scorecards Introduced

Changes to the stroke rating of the men’s course are a feature of the new scorecards which were introduced on Saturday (4 July).  In reviewing the course, the Match Committee decided to introduce the odds and evens stroke index format.  As a result the index on holes one to nine are odd numbers and 10 to 18 even.

Since the introduction of hole-by-hole scores into the handicapping computer programme a more accurate record of the actual difficulty of each hole is available and this information was taken into account when producing the new card.

A number of local businesses have purchased advertising on the cards and this revenue helps to offset the production cost.  Support of these advertisers by Club members is encouraged.
